Ramstein-Miesenbach Union Community

With an area of 9,256 hectares and a population of approx. 19,000, Ramstein-Miesenbach is the largest Union Community in Kaiserslautern County. Its North/East boundaries are the Weilerbach Union Community, Landstuhl to the South, Bruchmühlbach-Miesau to the South-West, and the Schönenberg-Kübelberg and Glan Münchweiler community associations to the West.

The Ramstein-Miesenbach Union Community was formed on 15 December 1971 during the Rheinland-Pfalz government administrative reform. The following villages agreed to form a Union Community:

The reform aimed to create a joint, functional and efficient administration which is accessible to all its citizens. At the same time, the new administration was charged with providing new services which would have exceeded the financial capabilities of individual villages. This included responsibility for schools, sewage, central sports and recreational facilities as well as fire protection. The day-to-day administration is performed by the Union Community which provides assistance in obtaining outside funds as well as planning, financing and carrying out projects.

With lots of energy, good ideas and efficient planning the Ramstein-Miesenbach Union Community has created a modern infrastructure in its villages in the past three decades and has improved quality of life considerably - a fact which it is very proud of.

Before the Union Community was created, five separate administrations took care of people's needs. This changed significantly with the completion of City Hall in 1983 where all administrative services were housed in one central location.

The tasks for community employees are ever increasing. Their responsibilities include:
Registration, passport and identity cards, business matters, civil weddings, lost & found, traffic matters, schools and daycare centers, private clubs, social services, statistics, voter administration, budget, tax matters, construction requests and permits, environmental matters, community development, cemeteries, sewage, etc.
