The City of Ramstein-Miesenbach
The Community's Administrative Center
In recognition of Ramstein-Miesenbach's development efforts the State of Rheinland-Pfalz awarded designated this community a City in 1991. Since then, Ramstein-Miesenbach has developed into one of the region's most modern business, social and cultural centers.
In the last few decades, Ramstein-Miesenbach has grown from a simple farming village into an attractive city which offers all services its citizens and visitors require. Located at the crossroads of an ancient trading route its attractive shops, markets and service providers stand ready to fulfill all customer needs.
A multitude of physicians and surgeons, an outpatient surgical/medical center, dentists, and pharmacies provide for excellent medical care, which is supplemented by practices for modern laser treatment, massage and physical therapy as well as facilities for saunas and solariums, fitness centers, podiatrists and health practitioners.
One of the City's most popular weekend attractions is the farmers market which is held every Saturday morning around the fountain in front of City Hall. An ancient tradition was revived in Miesenbach which hosts its annual Household Market (Krammarkt) on the last Wednesday before the first Advent Sunday. Other attractions include the annual carnival parade, the Nikolaus Market in December, the Farmer's Market at the beginning of October, the Wendelinus Market on the last Sunday of October, and the Ramstein Fair which is held every September in the city center.
In Ramstein-Miesenbach tradition is not perceived as an obstacle to progress but progress is regarded as the natural result of tradition. A perfect example of this philosophy is the restoration of the city center. After completion of a comprehensive study on city improvement, several million Euros were allocated for the renovation of the inner city. Cooperation between Ramstein's citizens, city planners and community leaders greatly improved the city's attractiveness and quality of life for its citizens and visitors.
The City maintains official partnerships with the French city of Maxéville, the US city of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and the Hungarian City Balatonlelle.
