A water paradise where the weather
is always good
The AZUR Water World in Ramstein
starting 9th of May 2009
Picture this: Palm trees, blue waves, Caribbean water temperatures, children playing in the warm water, Mom relaxing in a
lounge chair, Dad having a beverage at the bar. A typical scene at a beach in Southern Europe? Not quite. This family is in
the AZUR Water World in Ramstein-Miesenbach where the weather is always good.
After an extensive renovation of the old city pool, the AZUR opened in 1991. The great number of people who visit this new state-of-the-art facility prove that the 10 million Euros which were invested in this project were worthwhile. This investment made the AZUR one of the most attractive swimming and recreational pools in the entire county of Kaiserslautern.
A happy hippo dressed in a bathing suit, the mascot of the AZUR, welcomes the visitor at the entrance door. Courteous staff
stands ready to answer any question the visitor may have. The basement houses a series of dry and steam saunas as well as a
refreshment bar.
On the first floor you will find changing booths, a restaurant and the actual pool area. There is a 25 meter pool for the
experienced swimmer, a non-swimmers' pool with water-jet massage ducts, water canons and water falls. An open water slide
goes straight into its own pool. Families have a special priority at the AZUR. Children under 6 years of age have their own
play area and are admitted free of charge if they are accompanied by their parents. Our young visitors will have lots of fun sliding down the lighthouse water-slide,
looking at the colorful tiled murals, floating their boats on the miniature shipping channel or splashing at the happy hippo
fountain. Adults can enjoy the hot whirlpool or get a tan in the solar facility. Everyone can enjoy the warm water in the
outside pool even in the winter.
After a complete renovation the outside portion of the pool was opened in 1998. During the summer, this area complements the indoor facilities with its diving platforms, giant slide, Olympic-size swimming pool plus 2 baby pools. There are 1,500 square meters of water facilities as well as basketball and beach volleyball courts and a special playground with a "mud corner".
